I agree with most of that except the anal part. When I think anal, I think fly fishermen. I've only been duck hunting for about 35 years and some of my best years were in the Panhandle 20 years ago. I think like Guy said, competition for hunting spots has changed the attitude of duck hunters. The only times we ever competed for spots was when we were hunting the water reclamation plant in Lubbock and even if you didn't get the spot you wanted, you always got something. Other than that, we rarely ran in to another group and most of the farmers were open to letting you hunt their ponds.

I think a lot also has to do with the whole mechanics of social media. It is easier to be less than polite to someone when they are out there in the world and not standing right next to you.

Kind of sad this has to be said in the first place, and year after year! Whatever happened to treating others with dignity and respect. The tone this forum and others carry many times only teaches the younger waterfowl audience how to be. IE... By having the negative elitist attitudes and bashing others only encourages the newer hunters to have negative elitist attitudes as they progress in the sport.

It seems that year after year it's mostly the same guys too. Often times the ones you'd least expect! Some of whom I would think would be in their best interest to protect their reputation. Guides, mods, and of course others! But they should be the ones leading by example!

Should have a public hunting etiquette sticky posted at the top too.

#1 rule should be "use common sense" and don't be a jerk.

#2 THF is not your duck hunting welfare check. Get out and scout.
