8000 lb winch - when there are no trees anywhere around it does not help much - also tried anchor - as STX said in our mud one will not hold. I have winched to fence post, base of mesquites, etc. when they are nearby.

Well nevermind then. I've just noticed a lot of guys buy a winch rated for the weight of their vehicle...ie. 3000 lb. winch for a 3000 lb. I've always been told to go at least twice the size, but sounds like you got that covered.

My dad's buddy used to carry a big piece of rebar and a sledge to pull his Nissan out. But I wouldn't be surprised if that Nissan was lighter than the RTVs especially if its a diesel roflmao we have one and its a heavy pig.

mine is diesel and it is heavy - also hate to have to carry a sledge and rebar around in the bed of my buggy but may have to try it next time it is muddy
