I am in search of a 4 wheeler. I have noticed quite a few don't come with a title. I have never owned one before.

1 do I have to have a title?
2 do I need to register the 4 wheeler
3 do I need a sticker to ride on public land
4 do I need a sticker to ride on private land
5 if I buy one out of state without a title can I get a title.
6 does a bill of sale act as my title
7what do I look for or look out for when buying one?

1) no, but you need some kind of proof of ownership of you want to keep the peace with the LEO
2) no
3) depends on the state regs
4) no
5) no idea, but I wouldn't buy one without a title
6) it's better than nothing but make sure you get accurate ID of the seller
7) make sure it's a Honda. I won't buy a used ATV if it has over sized mud tires, lift kits, aftermarket exhaust, bent handle bars or racks, cracked plastics. Always take it for a test ride, run it through all gears, use the brakes a lot, check all light switches. Jack up the ATV and grab the top and bottom of the front tire and try and wiggle it, checking for worn out bearings. The rear is more difficult to see worn bearings, but also wear out much less than the front. I sold a 2004 Honda Foreman with over 18,000 miles for $2500 last year, it looked great and ran like a top.

Oklahoma gives you a MSO when buying new. The title is nice to have but not a requirement. As long as you get a copy of the sellers license and all that with the bill of sale. No registration is required on off road vehicles. The "sticker" to ride is for state or federal land that allow atv/utv. If you want a title in your name and the seller has it you'll have to pay taxes through the state. Honda is the most reliable can am has the most power Suzuki ain't bad Polaris ain't that good Kawasaki ain't great. That's based on toughness. Don't buy anything with snorkels and big mud tires unless you know how it's been treated. I've had them all and Honda and can am as far as atv and Polaris makes decent utv but I do not like the atvs

Oklahoma does not charge you taxes that's why you don't get a title

My Dad never could kill his Arctic Cat. Lord knows he tried. Still, I believe that Honda and Yamaha are the champs for low maintenance and long life. My neighbor's Honda is a 1984 model and is ugly as a mud fence, but it runs great. My Yamaha is 16 years old. I've had the carb worked on, replaced one headlight (due to grandkid submerging it), and the left rubber handgrip. That's it. Original tires are still on it. Amazing. The rubber covers on the CV joints are still solid and in place. Seat has no tears.

I don't think I have a title. Bought it in Shreveport and live in Texas. Heck, maybe I have a title. I should look, I guess.
