AR-15 built by me
Barrel: 20" LaRue Stealth 1:8 twist
Scope: VX3 2.5x8
Trigger: LaRue MBT

5 shot groups

77 SMK
22.1 AR Comp
.86 moa

77 SMK
22.7 AR Comp
.42 moa

77 SMK
23 AR Comp
.67 moa

77 SMK
23.2 AR Comp
.32 moa

75 BTHP
23 IMR 4166
.86

10 shot rapid fire

75 BTHP
24 IMR 4064
.67 moa

This barrel only has about 70 rounds through it so it may tighten up more. We shall see!

I tried 23.5 AR Comp but it caused the groups to open up to .9 moa along with cratered primers.

Thanks! I got lucky with this one. My 6.8 AR gave me fits during load development. This one might dethrone the more accurate .223 AR in the safe. Going to be fun finding out! I have a 4th, but it's an M4 clone just for practicing/teaching fundamentals and general mischief. Yeah, I have a problem....

Nice. I will start loading 77SMK for my 18" Noveske barrel this weekend finally.

Did you load mag length or single feed?

What an honest eye opener. I thought all AR15s were 0.50 MOA out of the box using surplus ammo.

Mag length. Just short enough not to catch on the inner wall.

It's at least a 1:8 twist right?

Dang good looking groups. I am building a few as well and hope to get some loads tested in the coming weeks. Is the chamber 223 Wylde?

It's worth noting that Alliant's website has 22.1 as the max for AR Comp. I found a lot of people reporting this was more of an accuracy spec than max. I, along with a lot others didn't find any pressure signs (at least until 23.5 grains) with the loads we tested. I inspected each casing after firing and they all looked normal.

The Hornady 75 BTHP bullets are worth a look since they're almost half the price, but I haven't got them to be as accurate in a couple AR's. I've tested multiple powders and charges with them.

Try the 75 Hornady's over 22.5 grs of Benchmark.
I have 4 ARs and a Tikka T3 that are 1/8 twist.
That combo shoots very well in all of them.
