I've been in the Aubrey store a few times and bought ammo. Very nice people to deal with.

Hmm. My wife works in Aubrey. Maybe I can join the list of fellers with wives that buy them guns! I won't hold my breath.

I went to Academy today to look at DPMS 308. Dont know the model, it was 749.00

After handling it, the weapon is a little heavy for my type of hunting. Im sure its a great weapon, but i need something lighter. I can only imagine carrying it around with ammo and a scope attached.

Back to the 6.8 for me.

Technically, there is no such thing as a light 308, excluding the G2 hybrid.

There are lots of light 308s... in a bolt action.

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

This is true as far as the AR's go.

The Browning BAR Mk 3 Stalker in .308 is 6 pounds, 10 ounces before a scope is mounted on it.

BAR Mk 3 Stalker

There can be no doubt that the primary appeal of the 6.8 stems from the light, handy firearms that it is chambered in. A good AR15 is every bit as nice to carry as a lever gun in 30-30.

Does a good job, too.

I've often been tempted by an AR10, but there's no getting around the fact that they are heavy - and the extra weight is not going into the barrel, where it would do the most good.

"Light" is a relative term.

My .308 AR is light compared to three of my bolt action rifles.

My Christensen Arms CA-10 308 with 16" Carbon Wrapped barrel is just under 8 lbs (no scope or ammo) plus it is incredibly accurate. Danged expensive though...

Good Price. They are a little heavy, like most have said most 308's are. Shoots well. The triggers on these guns are terrible. Replace the trigger ASAP.
