I have an X-Sight I and don't use it much because of the several issues I've had with it. The difficulty with focusing it is at the top of my list. I would be interested in hearing from anyone that has the new version II to hear if they are happy with it. The main issue I have with the original X-Sight is that they released it with so many obvious problem that should have been fixed before it was released, have they done it again with the II.

Sliced bread is awesome. Sauerkraut and mustard on a hotdog are awesome. The X-Sight is like putting catsup on a good fillet. If that's what you like, then I guess you could describe it as awesome, but most would describe it as something else.

Most issues with the X-Sight is USER ERROR! ATN has a great support team that will help with any issue experienced. If it is NOT user error they have a great team that will fix the issue or replace the sight. I have the 3x12 and the 5x18 and love both of them for different reasons. If you want to shoot past 200 yards you will NOT like the 3x12, and if you do all of your shooting at 150 yards and under you will prob not like then 5x18 due to field of View. People say "white wash" is a major issue with the x-sight during the day, when that is an easy fix. If you are expecting a GLASS SCOPE you will not be happy. It is a digital scope and its like putting a digital camera with scope technology on your rifle. The new X-Sight II that launches in a month is going to resolve that with an HD display.
For me I love it and it has been the best scope purchase I have made. I love being able to record my hunts in HD video, take HD pictures, take my son with me and have him connect to my scope with his smart phone through wifi and see what I see in real time. I also love the night vision capabilities. Now with that said, the IR light that comes with it is crap an upgraded light is easily purchased online.
Overall this is a fantastic scope, and there is plenty of support out there to use it correctly.

you're correct , it has its pluses and minuses but for a budget night vision it works well within constrained parameters The IR needs upgrade when you have your show and tell in march let us know

Most issues with the X-Sight is USER ERROR!
Agree, the USER ERROR was buying it thinking it was ready for market, and then believing ATN would fix it quickly.

Most issues with the X-Sight is USER ERROR! So the sight is so jacked up that normal people can't make it work right? Well that sounds like a great selling point! People's X-sights were so screwed up that one model was recalled because it was permanently out of focus, some models had the mounts tapped in the wrong position such that they were literally pointing in a different direction than the rifle and could not be corrected by windage adjustment. Dozens of firmware updates have been made to make the X-Sight partially functional. We had LOTS of threads here on THF with people discussing the problems of the scopes. ATN beta-tested their product on unsuspecting consumers. How is that for customer service?

Hopefully they've worked through all that crap and the new version will be improved. There is still lots of stuff that few will use that they could have eliminated and sold the scopes working

I've been waiting for the 3x X sight Part 2 to arrive for awhile. In the meantime, I bought a photon to hunt with as my 5X isn't working to well with the newest .343 firmware version. I hope ATN hasn't given up on us BETA testers and won't leave us hanging with semi useable scopes in need of better firmware ?

Nothing is a given in night vision , I'd recommend finding 2 or 3 opinions from experienced users.

The scope has shipped to the first 200 pre orders, and is being used by the general public. The goal was to ship out 200 units, find all the bugs that the testers missed, fix them, make a firmware upgrade for the fixes, and then launch all units to ship. I personally have one and posted videos on a youtube channel I made just for the X II - I have the 5x20 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaD1yBL1qQMKzmiPWhpJUK8F6d9DaJ-wPThere is a list of videos I have made fro the X-Sight II

Maybe ATN should've gotten the first version working right before they started working on a second version ? If you have the Gen II scope, can you let us know what firmware version it has in it and if it's compatible with the older ATN scopes ?

Firmware is on the ATN website, different version-release numbers for both. I would assume since the processor core is different between the two, there's no interchange.
Trade-in program from I - II sure would be nice...

Good idea Charlie ! A straight trade with a 79.00 fee to cover warranty extension sounds reasonable.
I believe ATN should include a warning screen each time the ballastic calculator is accessed but certainly when the holdover exceeds a normal rate.
While the sales pitch is that the program serves the purpose of replacing charts, BDC reticles, and distance calculators in reality most of that is utilized to avoid errors when sending projectiles down range. Most users toss the owners manual or sometime companies employ an online manual which doesn't make it into the hands of every user so button pushing and experimenting begins which could lead to an unsafe condition.
You will have an over confident user BELIEVE what the scope tells them regarding holdover and if the data entry was incorrect the neighbors homesteads or worse livelihood could be endangered.
Simple fix - if the holdover exceeds normal value of 10 Inches a small icon appears onscreen warning users to double check their values - a court of law would probably deem this an adequate warning in the case of negligence.

I would be happy with keeping my Gen 1 HD x sight if they fixed it. A trade in would be nice towards the Gen 2, but I'm reading that some of the newer BETA testers are having firmware issues with the scope, but at least it's not the same issues the Gen 1 is having/has had. I would like to hear some feedback from forum users that get to see one first hand with JTP's offer ?
