Jay, are ya'll still doing that hunt test in March in the Dallas area? If so, I'd like to get dates and some information on getting registered so I can get Buck going on his SHR.
Thanks!

Thanks Ol' Yeller. That link and the calendar is very helpful.
So for clarification: "Five (5) Championship points per hunt test are awarded for those dogs who pass all Started Hunting Retriever tests. Four (4) Started passes are required for the Started Hunting Retriever (SHR) title."
Does that mean that we will need to successfully complete 4 started hunt tests before he gets his SHR? In other words, would it be possible for us to get his SHR in a single day, or is it a multi-day deal. I don't have a problem with either way, I'm just confused on what they said above.
Sorry if that's a dumb question, I'm new to the whole hunt test thing.
Thanks again!

This link may help some...http://www.huntingretrieverclub.org/structure.shtml
Not a dumb question. Typically, started has 2 single mark water retrieves and 2 single mark land retrieves in a day. If you pass those you get a ribbon and single started pass. 4 passes and you get the SHR title. So in a weekend you could get 2 SHR passes if you entered sat and sun.
Hope this helps and there are a lot more guys w/more knowledge of this than me.

Thank you for answering my question Yeller :-) I'm extremely excited and apprehensive at the same time about running him in his first test. I know he's ready, but it's almost like when I help one of my kids study for a big test... they kinda have to do it on their own at some point, you can only hope that you trained them well enough to get it right and something completely out of the ordinary doesn't happen to throw them off their game.

Cowtown HRC (club I belong to) has our 20th anniversary hunt test Mar 12th and 13th @ Ravenna (north of Dallas). Come on out and catch the addiction! Practice saying, "he's never done that in training"... Seriously it's a lot of fun w/like minded dog people. Very helpful and everybody pulls for everybody.
