I'll put my battery on the charger after a hunt until it's fully charged and then put it back in my tote until I'm ready for the next hunt. It's not still charged and ready to go. I have to put it back on the charger for up to 3 hours. Think I should send it back to Garmin after the season is over?

Yes, it is self discharging and it will only get worse. Call them, maybe they will send you a new battery.

I'm not sure it can be replaced by an idiot.

Bill, If you are not up against voiding a warranty or something of that nature, take it to one of those Batteries Plus+ stores and let them look at it. They built a battery pak for my e-collars and transmitter about 4 years ago that never loses its charge. I have only re-charged my collars one time this year since the season started. I have hunted every weekend and use it every time down.

Bill, it looks pretty easy to change.

DC 40 is a snap to change. DC-30 and T series are a little more problematic due to the antenna position.
