Anyone in north Texas still checking cams this time of year? We are running three out of our eight feeders and just have hogs, turkey, and tons of dove hitting them. A deer comes by every now and then. Seems we get no deer regularly until September normally. We just run corn and this is Montague where they are everything but consistent.

Put up feed pens. Let someone else feed the hogs. I would also feed about at daylight and dusk with the hotter temps ahead.

Far from north texas but we are still seeing good deer numbers at feeders. Like Ranchman said put up a feed pen. We had no feed pens and put one up shortly before season this year the deer got used to it in about a week and deer activity has skyrocketed at that location since the hogs are not hitting it any more.

In Montague also. Deer are hitting my feeders more now than they were during the hunting season.

Coleman county here, deer still working over the feeders. Have one protein feeder going and they're working it fairly regularly.

There better be some deer at ours, because we are not running them for the benefit of the coons and turkeys.

Its a race to my feeder after it goes off... some have gotten pretty good at timing it... they will be waiting on the corn a few minutes before it goes off.... usually 8-16 deer show up

It was late and I answered my own question like y'all said. We have pens on 4 feeders but don't run those feeders in the off season. We just hunt the hogs now and upcoming turkey on the 3 feeders with no pens. I put the pens up last year to keep the hogs away so my plan did work since almost all deer are taken at the penned feeders. We are not in a high density area as well. 1 per 25 acres is my guess. Also, during the season only 20% of the deer we see actually go the feeder. Most just walk by it or stay in the brush and never come in.

Feed the deer year round at a feeder with a pen and they will use it year round. In some areas they have to be raised feeding at one to hit them year round and daily.

I've got around 10 different deer visiting regularly here in Parker County. Including my big ol' nocturnal 10 who disappears one week before bow season, and has returned the last two years about a month after rifle season. He's a smart fella!
