Anybody got recommendations about what the best gun magazines would be? There's a lot out there and I don't want to subscribe to all of them. Anybody subscribe to any that they think are good.

American Rifleman (through the NRA) is a pretty good read!

The current class of the field in hunting magazines, as opposed to shooting magazines, is Sports Afield.

I get a few mags from NRA and NGOA, but I get my most useful information form websites, blogs, youtube, and personal conversation. The mags a nice for the crapper, but not generally informative and much more a form of advertisement.

I like reading the magazines for new product announcements and the corresponding advertising, but basically agree with you.

I get the NRA Hunter publication but my favorites are the Wolfe Publishing offerings; Handloader, Hunter, & Rifle.

They are all just shills for advertising anymore. I always skip to the historical gun articles. I am still holding a grudge with Guns and Ammo for giving that POS jamomatic Remington 597 a rave review when I was a teenager. $139 was a lot of money when you are 15 years old.

I agree with Colt. The magazines try to be everything to everybody. I'm not a big history guy and most of the gun writers wear me out.

Their tests are always positive, and not true.

This being said. I let all mine expire except "GUNS" Magazine. They are pretty good
