Have you tried Gunbroker? that might be a good start. I googled it etc.. looks like it's part of the FN company that is from Belgium etc.. but FN also makes guns in the US too. Loks like like it's in decent shape . What the story behind it?

I bought the gun at a pawn shop when I was in college to deer hunting with. I shot the gun 2 different time then never used it again.

It's a customized military FN. Without knowing the maker, I would put it in the $400-$450 price range. They were common post World War II. Good and solid rifles.

How can you tell it's a military Mauser vs an FN Commercial Mauser?


I have an FN Commercial Mauser from about 1950. The stock is not as nice as that one but it works.

FN CRF actions are among the best ever made. I think the action alone is worth $500.00 to the right person - if it is in great shape.

its a fn Belgian Model 50 mauser. They were used till the 70's. they were made to be used in the belgian congo. they were chambered in 30-06 and reason being was the amount of 30-06 mil surp ammo given to by the us to european countries after the war. This was a post war action. FN DID NOT make K98's during the war. The "B" is a marking for King Boudewjin. Some had the "L" for king Leopold. Underneath the "B" the intials ABL were it was tapped for a scope base stand for "Armee Belge Leger". They were made either in 1951 or 1952 and are stamped so. They were either an army issue or nave issue. yours appears to be an army issue. The 52 is the most common with 51 being next rarest and navy model being rarest.

so whats it worth. it depends, it would make a great build. In fact a dear friend of mine is building a 257wby out of a 51 model. The issue with mausers these days is the cost to work on them and get them trued up. they were/are fine pieces and its a good action, but the mauser has become an expensive project these days, and is cost prohibitive compared to the rem 700's and savages.

imo the stock is plain jane of the 50's-60's era resembles a fajen type stock. its clean but not a custom piece of wood. The mauser action is getting harder and harder to track down parts for so It has some value. Just look at what a reproduction mauser action like gma or saterlee costs. they are action only in the neighborhood of $3k. Its in good condition id start off by asking $500 not knowing how it shoots.if you want to sell i might know someone who would buy it for the bolt.
