There is an old rotted out Ford Tudor half buried in a pasture on my FILs ranch. While walking around the car one afternoon I found an old leaf spring laying next to it. After many many years of being buried under that old car, mother nature had left her mark. The spring was heavily rusted and pitted due to the exposure but parts of it looked usable so I took it home.

After a lot of work cleaning the rust off I ended up grinding a knife out of it and sent it to Peter's for heat treat. The character that the rust left behind was too cool to cover up so I decided not to put any scales on the knife, instead I just polished the entire thing. It turned out pretty good so I figured I'd share a pic. (As hard as I tried, I could not get a pic that really showed all the detail.)

That looks really good the way it is. You did right by not covering it up.

That turned out very cool. Well played leaving off the scales, although I would love to see what scales would look like next to the blade left the way it is. up
