I got my type 2 permit for the first time in a few years and see there are several wma's around toledo bend that offer turkey hunting. My question is for anyone from around that way or who hunts there, is there a decent turkey population down there? I live up around texarkana and thinking about taking a few days off to hunt there in April if it's worth a shot.

I am not from that area but I would say that if they have a spring season then there is a viable population. As is with all forms of hunting, scouting will be the key to success, I have already begun to scout for turkey in my area. Good luck this spring.

Born to hunt and fish.

We have turkey season in Bowie County but very few turkeys or else I would hunt here, they are retrying to reintroduce them back into 2 neighboring counties and have suspended the season there and on the wma. Not trying to be rude or anything I do appreciate any and all replies, just saying that just because there is a season doesn't necessarily mean there are a good number of birds.
