We are going to meet some old friends in Waco. Interested in a steak house. Any good places to meet? Thanks

There isnt much that isnt chains in regards to steakhouses in Waco. Two different Heitimillers one up north and one right there off 6 by the hospitals. Texas Road house is on the circle. There is an outback off Valley Mills past the new HEB.

Now there is diamondbacks downtown which is a ritzier steak house type place, I could never and still cant afford to eat there. They do have a really great happy hour I have been to my fair share. In regards to food, I hear it is pretty middle of the road. Some rave about it, some say it isnt worth it.

X 2 on Heitmillers. We ate at the one to the north a couple of weeks ago. Solid middle of road and not too pricey. Texas Roadhouse seems to be dependable wherever you find one.

135 Prime is very good, but check the menu prices before going. It is not in IMO in the same league at Del Frisco's, Al Biernat's etc. but the price at 135 Prime seems a bit lower and each steak comes with a salad, sides are extra per the norm for upscale steakhouses.

Just a thought Vitek's and Rudy's put some pretty good Q on the plate.

Like me some Don Carlos Mexican on I35 and Hwy 6. For some DIVE food try Fridays on Old Dallas Highway. From the outside you might be scared but once you eat it you'll have a changed mind!!! La Fiesta is not bad either. I have heard a few good things about a place called Manny's on the river... Went once and left when we had to sit nearly in the kitchen and the place was empty, cups had gunk on them so we walked. Have also heard of a place on 35 near Baylor called Jaivita that is suppose to have some incredibly Mexican style seafood. I have not been yet but a buddy has and he raved about it.

Jaivita is freaking solid food. Manny's is a joke, unless you're going for the margs.

The Diamondback steakhouse is pretty darn good, though it was pretty darn expensive. The steak I ordered last time, ala carte, was $62 or $68, I forget which. Dang. It was a good steak, but it wasn't THAT good.

As for Mexican food, I prefer Chuy's over LaFiesta and Don Carlos, but that's just me.

I need to get back to George's for some fried Jalapeno slices. Love that stuff. And...the steak I had at George's one time was pretty darn good.
