I know bobcats etc live in most areas, beit open land or in the city But this is getting to close to home for my liking The area they are talking about is about 4-5 blocks from my house I can't use a gun in the city, but I bet a well placed bolt from a crossbow would take care of one This is a link to a local news station . http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2016/02/10/bobcat-attacks-continue-in-richardson-killing-14-dogs/

We've seen one about 100 yards from my house. There is a small wooded creek behind the back acre that runs into a larger all-weather creek. It's (they've) been seen crossing the county road at the bridge over the small creek where it runs into the larger wooded area. Some neighbor outdoor pets (loose) have gone missing. There are only a few houses since all the lots are 3-4 acres, so still some wildlife around.

Anywhere you have a lot of rabbits, rodents, and a creek or brushy culvert for them to hide in, you are going to have predators. I jogged by a bobcat in the predawn a month ago, less than a block from my house, in a regular neighborhood, in The Colony. I ran right by and he stared at me from my neighbors yard...with a bunny in his mouth. The only solution I can come up with is either get rid of the food (rabbits, mice, and rats) or watch your pets closely. In my opinion, shooting anything in town, unless you are actively protecting your family or property is a BAD idea. Imagine the greeny leftist response to a picture of a bobcat running through a neighborhood with a crossbow bolt sticking out of it. Just my Thanks!! Matt

The psycho nut bags have always been there. They just get better press now. Take away their guns, they'll use knives. Take away their knives and they'll use sticks!!

I wouldn't worry about the bobcat. I would just enjoy seeing them.

Monday this week saw one across the street in neighbors yard. Walked behind hedge against the house, across the front porch around the side and into alley. Then went into a large drain that I guess feeds into city's drainage system. Nice size cat. Same day two hours later, neighbor behind me sends pic of bobcat crouched on top of fence looking right into window. 3 pm another neighbor behind me has a bobcat walk across her back porch.
I think there's at least two based off differences in the pics.
I'm enjoying seeing and looking for them. Course, everyone seems to b concerned but me! Someone called the city and they said they weren't gonna do anything unless it got out of control. Said they won't mess with anything over 10lbs (for the most part) and that they were scared of kids because they made so much noise.
Tried to send some pics the other day but couldn't figure out how to load em.

When they are in neighborhoods around people, do they typically become aggressive?

When they are in neighborhoods around people, do they typically become aggressive? No. They live around any lake or creek and don't bother anyone unless you have chickens or cats or tiny dogs. People do now have those animals in the city so they have a constant source of food. Growing up we never saw anything here in Dallas and now yotes, foxes and bobcats are common. There are more chickens and cats than ever. They adapt. There is a house around here that no one lives at and became home to coyotes. News showed up and videoed them but city gave up trapping as more just move in when they did.

We have a couple of bobcats in our neighborhood near a large, all-weather, creek. One neighbor nearest the creek was loosing outside cats until she also added a Rottweiler. Don't think anyone else has had any issues. Only see them rarely, in early morning usually heading back into the woods around the creek.

This is a situation where suppressors come in handy.
