Has anyone had a chance to run these? How well did they do compared to the 140 AMAX?
Do y'all have any load data on it or did you run them at the 140 data?

I had a customer out for the class last week. We ran Hornady ammo loaded with 140 A-Max out to 800 yards. Then we ran 140 ELD-X out to 800 yards. The ELD-X shot the same corrections to 300 yards, then 400 yards to 800 yards (if memory serves) the ELD-X required 1/10 MIL less elevation correction.

When I get my hands on some of the bullets I fully expect them to like the exact same load as the A-Max, and that would be 42.0 gr to 42.8 gr of H-4350, with the bullet sitting 0" to .005" off the lands.

Got plans to test for 100yd accuracy Saturday in my 6.5X55 and 6.5 Weatherby. hopefully the wind will stay light or I go inside but without a chrono

I dont get the eld hype. Can they possibly be that much better? Ive shot teen size groups at 100yds with whats available. Seems like the non deforming tip is gimicky. Just my 2 cents

I think it has more to do with the relatively high BC... 0.1 higher than anything else Hornadys has in 6.5 at least. I picked up some Nosler ABLR 142's last weekend and will be comparing them. ABLR has a 0.719 BC.

Fireman, i read on it, but i dont think the average person, like me, will tighten up their groups significantly even at long ranges for me thats 600yds plus. The 2 LR customs i have in 243ai and 260 already can do half to 3/4 moa if the person behind them does their part with current available pills out to 1k. They might be able to do better, but i havent neither have any friends. So, thats why i dont personally see the hype. I probably shouldnt have said gimmicky, but i probably wont ever consistently shoot a sub 3" group at 600yds, in fact ive done that only a few 3" to 3.5" groups. I avg 4.5 to 4.75" @ 600yds on a great day. The record if i remember right for 600yds light rifle is about 1" done with none eld bullets, and i know i wont ever be that good, hence my comments.

I can see your side. Look after other side, there are lots of people that can hold the rifle still enough to shoot 1/4 MOA, or less.

Thats true, and the bc staying consistent would be a game changer at long ranges. 1k yard shooting is like a 200" deer these days dime a dozen. Think i could tighten my groups if i went to see you?

BC is noticed 200 and out, believe it or not. Of course that depends on how small you're trying to shoot. My big target at 200 is a 4" round.

I teach target engagement at varying distances, and that drives home the fundamentals. A side effect of that would be tighter group shooting, if that is your thing. You also find that you can hit pretty far out from an improvised rest. Most guys leave having hit out to 400 kneeling at two heights as well as standing.

These bullets show great potential, requiring more tests.

One thing I noticed, they seem to leave allot more copper than the Berger VLD's while cleaning the bores with Patch-out.

I am planning to take them out this week and work up loads for my Creedmoor. I am expecting similar results to the amax but if it aids me with less wind correction than I will be all in. Shooting well at long range with variable wind conditions is something that requires a lot of range time in my opinion.

Really 3 or 9 over 12 or 6? Why is that? At my skill level i find it much easier with head or tail wind to hit my target. It takes me longer to make the correction with full value

Because it will not stay 12 or 6. It will constantly vary 11 to 1, or 5 to 7. That means you have to continually check mirage, adjust the hold properly. Hold left, hold left more, hold right, it can be that way all day long. Some call it "fishtailing". It happened that way last week when I had a customer out. We had left holds and right holds back and forth all day long.

Give me a steady cross wind all day long. And I can adjust, as needed, for wind speed.

Steady is the key. Also flight height of the bullet will at times increase wind midway to your target especially shooting across a valley etc. Gusting wind will make you insane. Went out last Wednesday and came home early. At 100 in will push a little but I usually develop loads at 300 yards and then again at 500 and that's impossible on days like that.

I have the 6.5 CM with EDL's available also. Plus, CC loads his 6.5 CM on a progressive press, where the powder charge will not be as consistent. I'll load mine single stage weighing the powder charge out to .02 grains. His is more, mine is less, and mine is loaded much more precise!! There are differences in the details!!!

I've had excellent results with both yours and his loads. With that said he doesn't stock ablr and you do.

Chad loaded some 6.5CM in 129gr Hornady SST's for me and they are excellent. I'm wanting to try the 129gr Nosler ABLR next.

back from the range today. I played with RL17 and 4350 with the ELDX 143 gr. My rifle really likes 42gr of 4350. I am not done tweaking the load but it is close.
