Picked up my new 6.5 Creedmoor and drove to the range to shoot. The wind west of Ft Worth was crazy and gusting so I didnt work on loads but just wanted to shoot and clean the barrel. I think I am going to love it when I get the correct scope on it. Here is the breakdown of the build and a few groups shot using 140 gr eld Hornady factory ammo. (planning to shoot the 143 eldx bullets in the future)

Bartlein barrel 1 in 8 twist
Boyd Stock (bedded by garland)
Jewel Trigger
Stiller Predator action.

Shooting in between wind gusts today but I know the gun is going to be everything I hoped for.

Very nice!

My Brother just got his Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor yesterday. Mounted a NightForce Scope on it and is bringing it up here tomorrow to break it in.

Should be fun.

Hope to get nice grouping....like what you posted.

It is a target bullet. I have shot deer with the 140 grain AMAX but small hole in and out. Hornady is now making the ELD which will replace the AMAX. The 140 grain is a target bullet while the 143 grain ELD-X is a hunting bullet from what I gather. I just ordered 400 ELDs to try. My AR creed shoots great with the 140 AMAX bullets. Here is a 8 shot group I shot with it last weekend at 100

Careful with the Berger VLD they have to be set to the lands to shoot well and usually in an AR platform that means longer than mag length.

Nothing wrong with a Hornady SST for hunting , what you give up in accuracy will be made up for by the tough bullet.

My Creed shot 3/4 to 1 MOA with the 140 grain SST , it was devastating and made for lots of bacon!

Just got a box of the 143 eldx. I am working prepping cases tonight and will work up loads tomorrow. I am planning to take it on an axis hunt in a few weeks. I figure this will be my fun gun to shoot at the range and deer hunt with it from time to time.

Cabelas Ft. Worth had about 20 boxes of the 140 ELD ammo yesterday when I stopped by.

If you reload lraccubond, accubond , Berger vld hunting 130 to 140 gr
If you want to buy off the shelf the amax is excellent and will easily kill wt deer and pigs, don't let anybody tell you different

I guess this is directed at me since the OP has a bolt gun? I've heard the same thing. However, I hear that Berger makes a AR compatible bullet??? I've always shot either AMAX, accubond or ballistic tips through mine.

Where do you shoot Brianl? Nice rifle!

Shoot north of stephenville. We have a 1000 yrd range with a reloading room set up. The only down side is the drive there. I would love to find a range near Grapevine that could get beyond 100 yrds. I just got the 143 Eld x bullets from hornady and I am going to start load work ups with RL 17 and H 4350 today.
