H4350 is where it's at. You shooting at the Celebrity? Let us know how the R17 works. I got an email yesterday from midway that they are shipping my brass. I split a case last weekend and tossed all the brass I had. It was the second one to split, so I guess they didn't need another loading. I think I got 4-5 reloads out of them....

No close to Morgan Mill. Celebrity has a great range but we could only make it out to 500 from the bench. I shoot at tac pro as well on occasion as well. My 284 liked the rl 17. will let you know

I'm using R17 in my ballistic twin (260) cartridge and it's shooting fantastic. I was actually thinking about moving over to H4350, till all my 120 gr bullets seemed to fall into one hole using the R17.

As for hunting, I have used 100 gr Nosler BT's and 120 grain BT's. Both work fine on deer, coyote, and pigs, though the 120's work a bit better (big pigs deader faster). If I didn't have a big supply of both bullets, I might move over to the 130 gr Accubond, but don't think I can push it to 2900 in my short barrel. For ballistics sake, I like a mv of 2900 to 3000.

I've seen some pretty destructive wounds with the amax. Compared to their hunting bullets like the GMX, the ELD-M and Amax have thinner jackets, which means that they're prone to fragmentation. It's not controlled expansion, but it does a pretty damn good job of killing stuff.

Shot at 90 yards with 140 grain amax 6.5 CM. the buck was broad side. After the shot, he ran maybe 30 yards. Not one drop of blood except where he hit a tree and piled up.

It killed the deer, but glad I didn't have to follow a blood trail. Notice not one drop of blood on cape

We put 100 rounds of Hornady 140 gr. ELD though my Brothers Ruger Precision today. Basically, just breaking in the barrel, cleaning and getting some brass ready to reload.

The factory ammo was actually pretty good. I didn’t take my Chrono since we weren’t really looking to shoot groups, but the ammo seemed pretty consistent. It easily shot sub MOA, most groups about .750” and getting better by the end of the session.

We took the fired brass, neck sized it…ran it through the tumbler. We had two boxes of 143 grain ELD-X bullets, so we loaded some up on top of RE-17.

I didn’t have any H4350 on the shelf, but did have some IMR4350 so just for fun we loaded a few with that. By the time we finished it was getting dark, no time to do any more testing.

Very pleasant cartridge to shoot.
