I have a S&W AR chambered in 300 Whisper/BO that has the standard weight barrel with factory flash hider. I also have a RPG 1000TI suppressor that usually finds duty on my Micro-7. Can I simply remove the flash hider and use the 1000TI on the S&W? Or should I get a heavier weight barrel specifically cut/threaded for suppressor use?

Almost all 30 cal suppressors are threaded for 5/8x24. Your 300 whisper AR will be threaded the same.

That's what I figured. However, when I bought the suppressor, the maker recommended that any firearm it was mounted to have "relieved"? threads.

I'm not a machinist so not the brightest when it comes to threading. I've never had an issue changing my suppressor from gun to gun.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting.......holy kaka.....What a Ride!

Yeah I thought I understood him to mean that the threads on the barrel need to have an unthreaded portion at the end prior to the larger diameter barrel. The 300 threads extend all the way down to the "crown", or unthreaded portion of the barrel. The flash hider also has a "crush ring" between it and the flat portion of the unthreaded barrel, not sure if that should stay in place or come off. I'm going to give it a try this weekend and see how it works.
