My buddy Doug and me hunted with a young man and his son in Haskell County Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
We hunted one piece of property that's about 500 acres. He has two others we did not visit.
We had Doug's two older Brit's and his new female pup and my Pointer and my Brit.

Saturday we moved 12 coveys, the smallest had 12 birds, the largest about 45. We started at 3 p.m. and hunted until 6.
Sunday morning it was only Doug and I and we moved another 8 coveys.
Terrain was typical for that area: mesquites, prickly pear and broom weed. Ponds and feeder creeks dotted the acreage.
Saturday was a bit colder and the birds held fairly well with a north wind at about 12-15. Sunday was warmer and wild flushes were common once the sun was up.
Most of the dogs got points, even the new pup pointed singles. She is becoming quite a retriever too.

We have another opportunity in Paducah. Not sure if I'll make that one or not.
There were MANY rigs inbound yesterday afternoon. Looks as if there was a lot of bird hunting in the Rolling Plains over the weekend.

All the dogs found birds. Sounds great.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill
