Just looking for the best and most affordable options for ammo considering total cost including price, shipping, tax or lack thereof to Texas. I've been finding CTD has the best prices on my normal Federal ammo, but their shipping is a little high and then there's the sales tax. I normally buy 124 gr. 9mm and .223/5.56.

I've seen a few, but most don't beat CTD on total cost. And FWIW, I know some have an aversion to CTD and I'm not wanting to start a flame war.

CTD use to catch my eye on their ammo prices but they get you with their shipping and "customer fee" (or what ever they use to call it) they would tack on to the purchase, not to mention they would charge you more shipping if they had to ship from 2 warehouses.

If I need ammo online I usually look at Midway or Ammo To Go.

Thanks for the tips guys. Palmetto does have some good prices and I'll definitely look there again and Sportsman's had the free shipping but their prices were higher. Tell you what though, I found Natchez and ordered some stuff from them. I've gotten their catalog in the past and never paid much attention, but they had the AE 9mm 124 gr. FMJ I like to use for $10.49/50...as low as I've seen it anywhere. Really stocked up on that and also a couple hundred AE .223 as well at pretty much the normal price of $.35 or so a round.

Shipping seems to be pretty much the same at most of these retailers, but didn't have to pay the sales tax which helps.

Freedom Munitions has free shipping for new customers, they're good on some things, not so good on others. http://www.freedommunitions.com/Default.asp#&panel1-7
Georgia Arms loads a NATO equivalent but it's not the cheapest http://www.georgia-arms.com/

For price and availability might try some of the online ammo search engines.

I have not had any luck with the above ammo search engines. I usually just look at Cabelas, Bass Pro, Academy, Dicks and Gander Mt online. I have found way better deal like that from one and then the other. Buy the minimum and no shipping and done deal.

I used to use Wideners (recently sold so can't speak for them now, at first their prices went up but I think some of them have been coming back down), SGAmmo (great), PSA (very good - can be slow to ship if that's a concern to you, it wasn't for me), Aim Surplus (Great), Ammo To Go (great). I've done some with Sportsman Guide - no complaints, usually more expensive than the others (usually, not always).

I like palmetto, grafs, sg ammo. Cheaper then dirt can suck my big toe and ammunition to go used to be decent but are way overpriced now.
