What would everyone consider the best 1911 for the money in .45 ACP?

Thanks

I'd look at the ruger, Springfield, kimber, or sig in that price range.

Probably not be new but beats a rock island or something. I've had a rock island and it did everything as it was intended to but wasn't the best gun. Nothing wrong with them but I wouldn't take that over a better gun.

Surprised about the Kimber love on here. My BIL has one from about 1999 and it's a great gun but I hear a lot of people bash them. Personally I'd have no problem with one but I think the Springfield might be a better value in comparable trim.

If it did everything you wanted it to, and there isn't anything wrong with it, what makes another gun any better?

I've heard some good about these too. I like Sig's stuff. Heck just go find one that talks to ya. You'll know when it happens. The clouds will open up and birds will sing

"Best" and "$500-700" are not nearly close.

If you want best, SVI. In your price range, I'd be looking at a Springfield or Kimber.
