You know what, I think your right. I thought one had a busted off tine, but looking closer it is still there, likely the same deer.

Checked my cameras yesterday and had 3 bucks show up after Jan 2nd that I had never seen before. Looked to all be 3.5 yr old 8 pts.

Same buck but nice to see new ones show up. I had 2 show up in the past 2 weeks, one is a 3yr old looking buck and the other a nice mature 8. Also had a nice 3 yr old 5x5 with a kicker return for one night of protein about 2 weeks ago. He had been gone since late October till then. Not back since then either.

The random secret movement of mature deer boggles my human mind. I saw a mature buck hit my PF feeder early Jan I had not seen in over a year.

The random secret movement of mature deer boggles my human mind. I saw a mature buck hit my PF feeder early Jan I had not seen in over a year. That mature 8 was eating a protein feeder and I am not aware of anyone within 2-3 miles of me that is feeding. Showed up like he had been here before. Could be a buck that was here in the drought 2-3 yrs ago that left that is back and now mature. This 8 was there for 3 days in daylight and numerous times at night over that time. Then left and was back one night this week. I had another buck that ate protein all of 2014 and watered at my house water trough everyday for a year. He left during deer season in 2014 then returned in Jan 2015. He then left and only came back one or two days in November this year at night. Not been back since. The good thing is the past 15 months have been wetter than normal for my area. Lot of winter weeds and winter grass right now to go with oats and protein feeders.

Funny how it happens, we have several deer that disappear with the opening of deer season and return shortly after its close. This year we had a deer that we have never seen before in person or on camera or even last year that we know of show up mid season and hit the same feeder for 3 weeks till we came back and shot him. No clue what drives them sometimes
