We've been on our lease for 3 years now and have had not the best of relationships with one of our neighbors. The neighbor to our north owns about 55 acres. We lease 650 acres and our camp is right along our north property boundary. The first year we were here we never spoke to them but people in town told us they were talking about us.
The second year on opening morning one of the wives had to stay in camp with a little man (4 yr old) who got sick the night before and while in camp their lab got out of the trailer and she yelled for him to get back in. Well they left to go home and an hour or so later I was helping a member clean his first buck ever and noticed the neighbor standing at the fence staring at us. I said hello and he went off.... Wanting to know who was up here in camp yelling at 7am. I told him I wasn't sure but there was a young lady and her son here and that he was sick and they had already left for home. He continued to complain and my buddy and I both apologized and said again they had left. He kept on rambling so I just went back to work cleaning the deer. Well the second year we continued to here things from friends we'd made in town that they were telling everyone we were shooting everything that walks and they were going to get us kicked off the lease. Also we joined the MLDP before the second season and only killed the tags we were issued and are still on the MLDP.
This year about the middle of December I pulled up in camp on a Friday morning and one of the members who had been here since that Tuesday greeted me at the truck. As soon as I stepped out I said what's up with all the flys.... He wakes me over to the fence and about ten feet over the fence about 15-20 yards from our camp was a black gut bucket full of guts.... A million flys on it. So I blew it off and gave them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they forgot to go dump it when they clean a deer at their shed that's about 40 yards over the fence. Well last weekend my brother and father in law takes with the neighbor and his two grown sons for about an hour at the fence and they mentioned they they were in a predator hunting competition all that weekend so today when I pulled up in camp I found about 4-5 foxes 3-4 coons and looks like a few other animals in a pile about 1 foot on the other side of the fence and about 20 feet from our camp site again covered with flies. I've tried to upload a photo but it's not working for some reason.
I'm assuming they're not breaking any laws, I've called our land owner and he's going to come look at it tomorrow. Not sure what else to do. I know their goal is to get us to retaliate in some way so they can use that against us and attempt to get us kicked off the lease. I feel like we have a very good relationship with our owner so I'm not worried about that but not sure if there is anything else we can do to handle this properly.

The Game Warden is your friend, I would consider the guts piles hunter harassment. I would call to tell your story.

We have a very good relationship with our warden and I was planning on that being my next call but I wanted to clear it with our land owner first because he has to deal with these people all the time and I don't want to cause him any headaches.

Any chance you setting your camp next to his could be the issue? He has 55 acres and you have a section of land. where was the previous camp set up? Any idea why this land became available?

Spray the gut pile with bug juice. Dead flies. Probably a crime spraying over a property line tho.

Wouldn't that be camper harassment? Doesn't sound like they are disrupting any hunting.

Can you just move camp and avoid him altogether?

My first thought too. Then I wondered about electric and other stuff you can't move easily.

I wish we could move but this is where the electric and water is. He has a house on the north end of his 55 acres there's just a small pole barn down near us. So if they kill a deer they drive down to the barn to clean it. But they went out of their way to dump the predators down there.

just keep praying for a south breeze bolt

sounds like you are approaching the right way, getting the landowner involved, then the game warden.

Wait until next year. Then pick opening weekend to cut firewood, clean brush around fence lines for fire breaks. Don't forget that lab needs training in retrieving and whistle commands. Then when the neighbor complains, ask what law(s) you are breaking.

is the neighbor the landowner or just leasing? Either way I would go to your landowner and tell him the situation and see if he can approach the neighbor about the dumping on the fenceline

I don't understand why people have to be that way.. If they have an issue just come over and talk about it like adults, talk about a bunch of cowards!

Talked with the landowner this weekend and while we were talking the neighbor pulled up to his barn. My landowner went over and asked him about the pile of animals. He proceeded to tell him his boys must have done it and they had been out all night and didn't realize where they had dumped them when they got in. My land owner asked them to remove them or dump a bag of lime on them. Guess we'll see what happens. I'm gonna have the GW down next time where there just so he knows about it.
