Yes, syncerus hit the nail on the head. Once you've had your bolt face opened up for the magnum case, you can't make it smaller again unless you own a rifle with swap-able bolt-heads, like a Savage for example.

On the other hand, if you are replacing the barrel, there's nothing to prevent you from replacing the bolt and magazine at the same time. It would just be kind of pricey getting the work done.

If it were me, I would consider a "two rifle" solution.

Buy a Tikka and rebarrel it.

Sure you can get that changed out. PTG sells the new bolts either 1 piece or 2 piece, that and the barrel of your choice and magazine mods plus Gunsmith charges then have fun.

Forgot about bolt face size. I want a rifle I can shoot matches with, re; 10 rounds in 10 minutes or faster. I think The Weatherby is too hot, that's why I was looking at the 6.5 Creed, less recoil too.

I'm with BOBO, no reason to build a Creedmoor on a long action. Another hot 6.5 would be the ticket.
