The one on the left might be a bit overbore. Brass availability could be an issue, too. I'm just not sure the one on the right will get me the velocity I want.

What? I'm not sure what I'm looking at? Those rounds have no neck?

Sure they do. One is 20mm. The other is 30mm.

I'd go 30mm. You can't get the same level of performance out of the 20mm and you can always download the 30mm. Of course, the really cool kids are necking down 105mm howitzer rounds, but not everyone is up to the task.

Might as well have a portable mount so it can be moved from truck to helicopter as needed.

There is a wildcat using the 20mm necked down to 50cal that shoots the 750gr A-Max @ 3650fps. Almost need a truck to haul it around though. No stamp for destructive device with it.
Jason, I know you are a BC junkie, check out the trajectory on that round, energy levels are pretty high also. Not sure there are actually calculators that will allow the use of Hornadys advertised BC of 1.015 But it is still impressively flat if you use .999 in JBM.

I've heard of the .50/20mm. Always thought that would have some pretty impressive numbers, though I've never run them. I bet working that brass is fun. It's pretty stout.

I just ran the numbers. AB has the Amax at 1.05. Incredible data. The wind drift, or lack of, was bonkers. Only thing I've seen that makes a .338/.408 Cheytac look tame.

You need one Sneaky. http://www.anzioironworks.com/Anzio-20-50.htmlCheckout some of their other offerings like the 20 or some nice 50's. Have of their standard 50s and it shoots pretty dang good.

I think the Russian 14.5mm would be a great parent case, it puts a 1,000 gr bullet at 3,300 fps as is.

Dear God! I ran it in "Shooter", and Shooter has that A-Max in the bullet library. 100 yard zero. Of course in the real world I would put the scope on a 40 MOA base and zero it where ever it zeroed with a bottomed out turret. 500 yards +1.2 MIL 16,170 ft/lbs. 1000 yards +3.6 MIL 12,009 ft/lbs 1500 yards +6.6 MIL 8613 ft/lbs 2000 yards +10.5 MIL 6024 ft/lbs 2500 yards +15.6 MIL 4120 ft/lbs 3000 yards +22.2 MIL 2821 ft/lbs 3500 yards +31.1 MIL 2047 ft/lbs 3500 yards is about where it goes trans-sonic

I think the Russian 14.5mm would be a great parent case, it puts a 1,000 gr bullet at 3,300 fps as is. Suggested propellant charge for this one would be a duplex charge---five match heads on the primer and a handful of grass clippings to top it off.

I shoot a 7mm TCU.......223 brass necked up to 7mm (.284"). Great accurate cartridge and cheap to shoot. More powerful than the anemic 300 Blk.
Good deer cartridge for a novice woman hunter.
There should be production rifles made in this caliber.
