I have a J.C. Higgins Model 50 30-06 that was my grandfathers and I'm looking to put a scope on it. I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for a scope for it.

What's your plan for the rifle?

I have a Nikon Buckmasters on my .270 Win. Model 50.

Great rifles, I like mine. FN Mauser is pretty darned accurate. Changed out to a Bold trigger years ago. I see it kinda like a pre-64 CRF Model 70. cheers

I dunno. Filling the gap between my 270 and 7mm. My son might have to shoot it soon for a nalgi hunt. I'm kinda leaning toward a Leopold VX-2 3-9X40mm. I've got no experience with this scope. I've just read it's versatile and good quality.

Your choice (VX-2) is as good as any. What's your $$ comfort level?

I am a big fan of Leupold scopes, but I prefer 4x12 on a high powered rifle.
