I did not shoot a bird last year. I am very blessed to have friends and family with places for me to go. So I try my best to not abuse that gift. My wife finally expressed interest in killing a turkey. For a long time she would see turkey hunting on TV and she had the opinion it was boring. I tried and tried to tell her it is wayyyyy different in the field. We went a couple times in Fredricksburg and never saw a turkey.

Fast forward to last year she said she wanted to go to my sister's ranch in Gonzalez. The story behind her weapon jamming up was a little tiny oak leaf. When we got to the spot to set up she opened the slide and left it open as I taught her. While we were setting up a leaf must have fallen off of the tree and it landed right on the bolt in front of the firing pin. So when the tom finally got into her shooting alley, click. She slip another shell in ( I saw the live round come out and knew there was a problem). Another click! The bird was at 15 yards and he was not liking any of what we had going on. He straightened out his feathers and made way for the fence. I was behind my wife and handed her my shotgun with the 1 7/8 OZ load and said "Shoot it with this one and it has to be RIGHT NOW!" She off hand shot it and whacked it. She is now so hooked on turkey that is all she talks about, well that and arrowhead hunting.

"Yea he's dead sweetie" LMAO

I think you have a keeper. My wife, God rest her soul, could outcall me any day with a pot and peg or box call.

Nothing better than enjoying the outdoors with your better half. What happens in a pop blind, stays in the pop up blind...lol.

Good luck to you all in making this happen. Every relationship has its good times and its bad times and doing things together solidifies your relationship and makes the tough times that much better.

Good luck,
