Loaded up 30 tonight for the Creedmoor for an elk hunt this weekend. I stayed slightly below max at 41gr of H4350 which is grouping really well for my hunting purpose.

I'm hoping to have pics Sunday with how they perform on animals.

So the box suggests 1:12 twist will stabilize these?

It suggests that but I'm running 1-10 and 1-11.25.

Range time later today over 44.0 Varget. We shall see

6.5 Creedmoor?

Many, many of us run between 42.0 and 43.0 of H-4350 in the 6.5 Creedmoor. FYI

It's kind of interesting. If I remember right Hornady 8th lists max for 6.5CM at 41.8, but like Jason said, pretty much everyone runs it hotter than that.

My pet load right now is 41.7, but only because I haven't pushed above that. Maybe once I chrono it, I'll decide that I want to push it hotter than that. But still, for 500 yard shooting, this load out of a 26" barrel is more than adequate.

I hear you FJG but I had a short window to get something that was shooting a good group for a cull elk hunt this weekend with my son. He's doing the shooting, so it'll be 150 and in. I'll play with loading it up when I have time to dial it in. At 41gr I'm getting pretty tight cloverleafs at 100 yards, so it'll be up to him this weekend.

I'm anxious to see how they perform on animals.

Well, consistency trumps velocity every time, and touching at 100 is nothing to complain about. I was just letting you know so you're not leaving ~50 fps on the table, if it even matters to you.

I got mine in last week that I intend to load for my 260Ai. I need to shoot my current loads before I give them a try, maybe another week or two. I'm hoping to squeeze in around 48grs of 4831sc with these!

Didnt go so well today. Was rushed and only loaded up 10 at 44.0 varget as this was a nails 178 amax load I used. Sprayed all over the place. Nothing even consistent. Have to wait till next week and fire up some test group spreads. Looks pretty though...lol

Have a box of the 143's ordered up as well. Hopefully the Creedmoor likes them.

Ok, I have a report on animals.....pretty awesome!!!! The Creedmoor took down 2 cull elk and a fallow doe with impressive results. I'll do a full report on the hunt later but neither elk went more than75 yards. I was able to recover one bullet from an elk that weighed in at 94gr. However, none of the 7 shots on the Bulls had full exist wounds. One was shot at 275 yards and the other at 150 yards. The guide saw blood spraying on impact on the fallow deer at 125 yards.

I'll get posted in a minute.

Here are some pictures of how they performed on the animals. Those are the exit wounds on the elk and fallow. I found the bullet in the hide on the off side shoulder.
