Just got a 556/223 AR with a .223 wylde 1-8 twist 18" barrel.
Recommend me a few high quality predator hunting factory rounds to try out (weight and brand).

Thanks

The cheapest soft point you can find.

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Winchester white box is hard to beat. Remington has a 55gr load that would suit your needs too.

Hornady VMax 55 or 60 gr are also good choices for accuracy and varmint hunting.

Hornady 55 Gr sp kilt and didn't damage pelts to horribly for me. Choose something multiple store carry. You don't need the super premium Bullets in that cal.

I have the same specs on mine, it shoots the Hornady 55gr Vmax in the Varmint Express under .75 MOA

I think I like the idea of a soft point. We end up killing more foxes that anything and those vmax punch a fist size hole in them.

with 1-8 how heavy can I go just for shets and grins?

It should be able to stabilize everything up to 77gr but you will need to shoot it to see what it likes best. Try 55gr, 68gr and 77gr and see what it likes best.

The Vmax will certainly put a hole in them. If you're hunting for pelts you need to be using FMJ, most likely.
