I am cross posting this from the gun dog section, in hopes of finding a good place.
Let me preface this with, I have always looked down on folks who did this, so losing respect from some of you is what I am expecting and I am gonna accept that. Last year, December 2014, right after graduation my parents bought me a GSP. I had been wanting one, it was a lonely time of life job hunting, I was in a house with a huge yard and at the time it was a great idea. I landed a job in Austin, and frankly its so dang expensive. Financially I can only afford an apartment, and Amos has suffered. We have made it since May of 2015, until now living in a 600 square foot apartment. We ride our bike twice a day, 5 miles each time and I come home at lunch and let him out. It keeps him at bay slightly. But yet, I know it is not enough. When I get home it just breaks my heart. When I see him playing in friends yards and just being happy go lucky I know I am doing him wrong. After much much prayer and with a very heavy heart I need to look into re-homing him. He is a great dog, never met a stranger. Comes from J & K Kennels outta Azle, Texas. Has papers that will come with him. He is neutered. Is great with other dogs, and children. He is woah broke, house trained, kennel trained, has been on pen raised birds, retrieves decently and minds well. In no way is he a finished dog, but he is definitely on a great path. My stipulation is this-he WILL NOT go somewhere that puts him in a kennel and only pulls him out to hunt him. I love this dog dearly, and that is why we are doing what we are. If you want some additional info please feel free to call me. I am located in Austin. I dont want a dime for him, just a great home that will love him for the special dog he is. Please give me a shout if you are interested at all, or know someone who might be. Andrew - 817-487-7232 ______________________

good looking pup but mine stay in the backyard not the house - my guess is you'll be able to find a young hunter or someone who got rid of their dogs back in the down cycle that will let him do what he loves (RUN). I've got a buddy in dripping springs I'll ask since he's close to you.

I have a friend here that has had both of his dogs passed away in the past year, including a great GSP, that I passed this onto as well. I will guarantee you if Mark got your dog, he would get plenty of pre-season conditioning work, wild bird work in a variety of states, and petting between him and his lady.

I think re-homing him is very admirable. You should have no trouble finding him a good home.

I didn't lose any respect for you for taking this step. The ones I lose respect for are those that have had a dog for 10 years and then just decide they need to give it up. You'll find that dog a good home. If I hadn't already put down a deposit on a Drahthaar I would have given this some serious consideration. Good luck.
Yeah, don't listen to me. I'm just an idiot.
Lol. Duckbill that was funny! The dude up top has already taken lots of bone before this deer, both mule and whitetail.

Cracker needs a buddy Bill. Oxner is an EP snob. Nothing but English Pointers

Well, as it always happens God worked it all out. An older gentleman who works alongside my father lost his GSP to cancer a year ago, and has been contemplating getting another. Pop mentioned my situation to him and it all just worked out. Amos is going to better home than I can provide at the moment, will get to hunt hard and get lots of ear scratches in between. It is going to break my heart watching him go, but I look forward to seeing him here and there when I go home and visit and it'll do my heart good to know he is getting to breath fresh air all day long.
Thank you to all who showed interest and the support received here. I appreciate guys.

Damn bud. I can only imagine how this is going for you. Keep your head up knowing your doing the right thing. I work with two rescue organizations for pointers and brittanys, both of which I have seen the best and worst of scenarios. What your doing is awesome and beats out so many of the experiences have picked up pups on. you would be amazed at what people in your position do when they don't have a moral compass.
