These photos were taken in east texas. I am not aware of any high fences close by and I have never heard of free roaming axis in the area, but I was wondering if these deer could be axis or just white tail that kept their spots too late? Time and date are correct and this is a low fence property.

Those are axis. Several high fenced exotic ranches in deep East Texas. My cousin has one in Lufkin. Where abouts in east Tx?

What county you in? With all the flooding we had this fall I am sure some exotics escaped.

For sure axis, unless that you're talking to that megafawn photographer.

I would love to see a population of axis in east Texas. Don't know if they could survive in northeast Texas where I hunt though

Axis, my parents live on lake Tawakoni and have seen several over the years wandering along the lake bank.

I've heard that people around Tawakoni have seen them before as well but never laid eyes on any myself. I'd love to have them in the area.

I saw this posted on Youtube a while back about a heard in Southeast Dallas County

I'm no expert, but the neck looks too long for a WT, and the head and face look a little small for a WT. Axis are shootable all year long, right?

If you look real close you can see the black line that runs down the back confirming they are Axis

Land owner we leased from in Houston county released several thinking they'd hang around to hunt. Don't think he ever saw one after turning loose, but that's been probably 10 years ago. Probably 30 miles from rusk.
