Anyone now any reasonable priced night vision or thermal scopes under 1000 bucks and have reasonable quality?

Probably won't get
Into the thermal with that price range. You will be best served in that range
With digital nv, either photon or x-sight.

The X-Sight guys have been put through the wringer on account of a lot of software bugs, but that all seems to be smoothing out based on what I've been reading.

I have a Photon XT myself. It's not as fancy as the X-Sight, but I prefer its simplicity. I give it a thumbs up as an entry level NV scope.

Both can be had for around $500, sometimes less. I think both benefit from an additional outboard IR illuminator, and an effective illuminator can be had for less than $50.

Bought a X Sight a few weeks ago and it works as advertised. Looks like most of the bugs are worked out. If it were to break, I wanted it to break quickly so I could get a refund and get a Photon. I did buy another IR illuminator to go with it.

I also bought an X-sight a week or so ago and after one hunt it was returned to Academy. See my detailed post in the X-sight thread. Bottom line, for me it was too heavy, ate through 4 AA's in less than 2 hours with WIFI off, and was not good for close range shoot. I may be ok for some situations but it definitely wasn't right for me.

My buddy has the atn and sightmark digi nv scopes and i thought they were pretty good. I just traded a member for his yukon nvrs-f and im really impressed for a $600 rig new. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles like wifi, bluetooth, etc but for nv its solid. One big drawback on the yukon I picked up is the lack of daytime usage.

Are there any good nv scopes to where you don't have to move the rectile to one side? Like just staying in the middle. I Am trying to still find a good nv scope for an at-15 for about $800 or less

What you can do is buy a hackible flir e4 for around $800 and then buy a Resolute digital scope. I don't know what Mike's current price is but it will be less than the other digital scope after you add illuminator, batteries and charger.

Buy an off the shelf model I would not buy something that you have to view a monitor to shoot.

2-3 year warranty on off the shelf digital

I like onboard ir in case you need it in a pinch

You do realize that your viewing a monitor on a x-sight and Photon? I might add the Pulsar N550, 650, 750 etc. etc.

Sightmark Photon. 4.6x is 400.00-500.00 and they have a 6x for 600.00. For the money they're tough to beat.

Yes of course but technically its referred to as a "near eye display".

The two concepts are vastly different between off the shelf applications where the screen is at the eyepiece location vs the attachment of the monitor (usually larger) away from the eyepiece.

My opinion is to go with near eye display units backed by industry warranty that are proven.

Speaking to the Xsight model 1 (model 2 will be released sometime soon I read)

Daytime performance is very good - I prefer the 720p @ 60 fps mode

Night performance is so so - It isn't as fluid as the PhotonXT in night mode, it takes more IR light to see what the PhotonXT see with less. and I found out this weekend that you cannot enter night mode in 720p so you have to use 1080p @ 30 fps which has a different refresh rate, in my opinion feels more sluggish especially in medium light amplification mode. when you switch it to low light amplification mode it smooths out but then it flickers - all that said who has time for wifi with all that going on.

The "home built" or non-off the shelf scopes typically perform as good or in many cases better than the PhotonXT at night, very fluid and sensitive to IR light (in a good way) but the screen orientation isn't for me and I like having a warranty to back the product.

Digital is a mixed bag - goodluck with you choice
