I want to buy a feeder for hog hunting but i dont know what to buy I wont want to spend a fortune but i and want to buy junk an someone tell me a good buy and were to get it if thy or if anyone has a good use one for sell let me know i am really trying to get in to hog hunting next week i am doing str starmy reading i have every thing i think

A lot depends on where you're located. Shipping is expensive. I bought an HB from Andrew Pennington in Vernon. I They are about $600 for the 400# model. It's stand and fill, well built and works well. I'm very happy with it. It's on the way to my lease so picking it up was easy. There are guys on here with more economical feeders that look good but they weren't close to me and shipping added $.

Hey Chemdawg the above mentioned feeders are really great , first rate. If you are on a tight budget, just look at Academy/Dick's, you can pick up a Moultrie, etc for around $300 ON SALE. The timers are good, simple and fairly sturdy. I bought 2 of them 5 years ago and they they are still chugging. I have replaced batteries but no other issues.

The Moultrie 30 Gallon all-in-one works okay for a budget. I have several. It holds about 200 pounds of corn. For trouble-free use, you have to spend extra for a rechargeable battery and solar panel. Also, you will want to add a varmint cage around the feeder. I make my own with 1" x 2" welded wire. I fasten the leg segments together with a small sheet metal screw (or replace them with the top rail of a galvanized fence). Last thing I do is fasten legs to the ground with an eye-bolt through the bottom of the leg and a 24-36" 1/2" re-bar with a hook bent on top. I've had several Moultrie feeders for the past 3-4 years. You may also want to protect any exposed wires from squirrels. I had one solar panel that the squirrels loved to chew on the wire from the panel to the battery. Over all, a decent feeder for a little over $100.
