I had a buddy of mine that says he has a friend that hunts up on the Red River for hogs. Does anyone know if there is an area easy to access up there, that one could hunt with a normal Annual Hunting Permit, and advice to put me in the right direction? For public hunting of hogs, can you hunt them at night, or does it have to be in morning? New to hog hunting, never been.

I can give you a little insite.
#1, what city are you going to be hunting close to, it is a long river.
#2 Most of the Red River is in Oklahoma and they have there own rules for hunting at night.
#3 you shouldn't need a hunting permit as long as there is no active deer season running.
#4 you can hunt lots of areas on the river.

Red River goes all of the way across North Texas. You are going to have to define easy access. I go some places where you do need a 4wd truck. Others, not so much. It all depends. You will have to walk though so good boots is a good idea.
On public lands, you will need a license and an APH permit. Hunting is 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. I just call it sunrise to sunset for simplicity.
Download the book with all the rules and maps from the Texas Parks and Wildlife website. It will tell you what you need to know.
For private lands, you should contact Parks and Wildlife for any questions you may have.
