shooting a Ackley imp, have heard that's its okay to shoot the original cal ammo, but was told that's not a good idea. true or not?

I have shot 260 ammo out of my 260ai and my buddy shoots 223 out of his .223ai. Gotta fire form the brass somehow.

If it is a true AI shoot the parent cartridge. You will loose a little velocity but accuracy is usually still good
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true

Lots of A.I. cases were standard brass before having been fired in an A.I. chamber.
I dare say "most".

I shoot a 257 AI. I either shoot factory Roberts or use standard Roberts cases to reload to fire form. Have a batch of new brass that I'm fire forming.
