The hard part is that I knew what it was before I had to shoot because of the whistling sound it made before I could see it. Just like all the books I had read described that whistling sound ... so I thought that's got to be a Goldeneye and then I saw the duck and as it was a bluebird day I saw right away it was a Goldeneye. I picked up the gun swung fast and downed him with my first shot. Glad it kind of suprised me from behind as I tend to shoot well on the instinctual reactionary type shots.
I'm just so glad I didn't miss as I knew what it was a split second before I pulled the trigger. Glad not to have choked. LOL.
congrats on a beautiful bird!! I was fortunate enough to have one pass by me at the coast a few years back and I was able to kill him. Only one I have ever seen while hunting. It will make a great mount for you!!
