Bought the Remington 700 Ultimate Muzzleloader for my Kansas whitetail trip in December. Put the Leupold Ultimate Slam 3x9 scope on it and sighted it in. I used the Triple Seven 50 gr pellets with the provided Remington 250 gr sabots. After getting it sighted locally, South Texas, I re-sighted in Kansas and glad I did, was a bit off. I have to say I am really pleased with the ease of loading. The primers are cut down 30-06 0r 308 rifle cases with primers and make handling much easier than the normal T209 shotgun primers, I have large fingers and always fumble with the small primers. I just jacked a primer case in like in a normal rifle and closed the bolt, result...a beautiful Kansas 8 point buck, at 135 yards...preformed flawless and really happy with my purchase. I now want to test its reach with the full 200 gr charge at 300 yards...can't wait for next season....

I have a friend who bought one a few years ago that was made in Michigan called the Ultimate Firearms Muzzleloader that is very similar to the one you have. He killed his Florida Ibex in NM with it at 275 yards. Said his was very accurate out to 400 yards. He had a 4.5x14 Leupold on his.

Abe,
Please keep us posted on how you make out at the 200gr load. Also, how was the clean up process?

Tony -

will do on the full charge, as for the clean up, piece of cake, its recommended simple soap and water with patches, but I went with Remington's Muzzleloader Cleaning Patches and Oil, really, REALLY simple, the Triple Seven cleans up easy, I have not pulled the breech plug yet but will after the next use...

Thanks, for the information on the 700 Ultimate ML. I have been thinking about buying one for a few years, in a few western states inline MLs are illegal. Are there any restrictions in Texas?
