You have some very useful tools there sir. Man what I'd give to have a dozer on the place.

Is that a little towable belly dump/grader?

Very nice. Luckily our LO keeps a blade by our two bad spots. A little of that rock would fix us up permanently. I only got stuck once this year. I now have plan B when it gets too bad.

It is a Caterpillar #70 scraper. Weighs about 18,000 pounds. The dozer pulling it is a Cat. D7 17A and weighs around 36,000 pounds.

Nice. If it's behind a D7 it's not "little" at all! Must have been the picture distance. Great equipment.

I've never done this. Do you scrape the pit with the dozer, then make a pile and then scoop it up with the belly loader?

I use the scraper to transport fill which does not have much caliche but is easy to load. Then dig up the caliche with the dozer and pile it. Then load it on the dump truck and spread it over top of the fill. Once it rains on it it get like concrete. The scraper will hold about 10 yards when full.

Hey Don, I think Trump is going to need your help to build the wall! I guess we can start in Bandera and work our way south.

EPA and OSHA probably won't let me.

P.I.? Clay content in your caliche. Couldn't you push your caliche into a windrow and pick it up with your scraper?

That may be cheaper than hiring loader and tandem. That is unless you own that as well.

It doesn't load good like that. You would need a paddle wheel scraper to do it that way. No use testing it because I use what I got.
