I will probably pick one of these up. If you carry it, how do you like it? And what loads to you like to keep in it?

With all the pocket 9mms available these days, why not look at those. 9mm > .380acp

I tried pocket .380s when there werent other options. I'd never go back with the options that exist today. I carry a a Glock 43, S&W 642 no-lock model, and thinking about a Bond Arms .45acp derringer for deep concealmet

I sorry and no flames intended but I just cannot get into the cheap small frames. My life is worth more. The words cheap and self defense just don't work.

Every weapon issued to our military is from the lowest bidder who meet all specifications. And yet we seem to win most of the fights we get in and on those occasions we don't it is seldom due to a low bid weapon.

Rough comparison between $800-900 military issue handguns and 250 polymer pocket guns. I don't think the seals carry lcp's. I HAD one and got rid of it. Easy to conceal and light. Trigger is brutal. Makes glock triggers look like fine tuned 1911 triggers. Heavy pull. IMO there are better even in that class and that money

Terrible trigger, sights, recoil. Probably got rid of it faster than any gun I've wines except the 7-08 encore I had.

I no longer own it

Bought and owned an LC9 for a good while until I finally shot it. Sold it within the week. Terrible.

If you haven't actually shot one, I suggest trying to do so before you buy. My natural grip on one tends to drop the magazine out unexpectedly. Not a good scenario for a carry gun.

I had one for about 2 years and carried it more than any other pistol I own. The trigger is long and it hurt to shoot. But it went bang every time and was easy to carry and I hardly left home without it. A $200 pistol that you'll carry every day is worth a lot more then a $600 pistol that stays in the safe because it's uncomfortable.

I promise you when you are in that spot of shoot or get shot you don't notice the long travel or heavy trigger. Especially if you've practiced enough to have some muscle memory. And as previously said, a comfortable carry is one you always carry. I'm not saying it's a great gun. Just don't like the attitude you have to spend a lot and have a big name gun to have a decent pdw.

I added a Crimson Trace laser grip to my LCP for added comfort and convenience. IMO, a pocket gun is never aimed but pointed when it comes time to use it.

I carry an LCP. I shoot it about twice a year, just to put new ammo in the magazine. It shoots just fine, but not near as good as my larger pistols that I will not carry. If someone is close enough to be a threat, I will hit them, every shot.
It is small enough that I hardly remember that I have it at times.

I think they're good little pistols for their intended purpose. I have one of the 2nd gen models. Trigger is way better than gen 1, sights are on par with most snubbie revolvers. I carry in my back pocket in a Cobra leather holster.

I shoot Hornady American Gunner XTPs out of it. They consistently did 12" in the Ammo Quest gel tests.

They're not match grade guns, but they're reliable and easy to always have on you.

I like mine. Works great for its intended purpose. Mine has been 100% reliable over about 500 rounds so far. I keep Hornady critical defense for carry.

just keep in mind what it's for.
it's not for shooting a round of targets
or for showing off to the boys or that
mythical rambo firefight everyone thinks
they'll win.
it's for getting some toothless tattooed stinky
meth head off of you long enough to get away
or get something more suitable for ending
the confrontation.
if you know you're going to be in a fire fight,
any kind or price range of handgun is the last
thing you want. you want a long gun that can
throw some lead. and a hughes 500 for backup

I have one and carry it often. It serves its purpose as a compact carry. I'm not asking it to shoot hogs at 50 yards, I am asking it to protect myself and my family when needed. I am 160 lbs and can hide it anywhere on my person. Cant say that for my glocks or 1911's. If I had my choice, I would be 350 lbs and would carry in one of my fat rolls... but I'm not, so I don't. I carry front pocket and my wife just thinks I'm happy to see her.

The LCP has an awful trigger and awful sights. That being said, I carry one 4-5 days a week and it has never FTF or FTE. You really can't compare it to the small 9's because of the weight and dimensions. I also own a Glock 43, which is what I carry the other 2-3 days of the week and the size and weight are night and day. I also own a Kahr PM40 (same size as the PM9) and it's about as close to the LCP in size and weight as you can get, and it's still a big difference.

When you absolutely can't be made carrying, the LCP is the way to go. It is the smallest lightest thing out there and therefore the easiest to conceal. When that isn't the case, I carry something bigger.

I agree with the others on here...I cant stand the "cheap" polymers. A couple of weeks ago I bought a CZ RAMI 9MM to use as my carry gun. It handles and shoots great. It is absolutely solid in all respects.

I've had mine for about 4-5yrs now. I carry it all the time when I have to carry something light. As all who carry it have said, it always goes bang when I pull the trigger. When I can carry something bigger I do. Sitting here typing this, it is in my pocket in a holster.

Wow. Seems opinions are pretty well mixed on this one. Ya'll bare in mind, this isn't something I am looking for pride of ownership or to pass down, but just a concealed defensive pistol that I can slide in my pocket and that goes bang every time. I know a guy with just a hi-point 9mm that's proven reliable for thousands of rounds. If I wanted cheap, that's what I'd get.

That said, any ya'll shoot the LCP custom? Seems they overcome it's shortcomings with the trigger and sights, and if you invest in the extended mag and put a spring kit in it, you can have 8+1 capacity in an LCP with adjustable sights and an o.k. trigger. Apparently any .380 ammo loaded with Hornady XTP's will pass FBI standards as well. I feel like that is an unbeatable combination of being ultra light weight and easily concealed, with capacity, firepower and useable trigger and sights. But I don't know anyone that has an LCP in this configuration, and I haven't seen any reviews with all these extras...

Does the mag kit affect reliability?
Do the improved sights snag easily?

Can anyone answer these questions based on experience with the LCP vs. speculation?

I haven't shot a custom, but the 2nd Gen LCP trigger is vastly better than the original. You're welcome to try mine if you're near greenville.

I have the newer LCP with the red aluminum trigger and the taller sights. I carry it in a little cheap academy pocket holster sometimes. I like it because it's light enough to carry in my basketball shorts while checking the mail or mowing the lawn. Any other gun I have is heavy enough to pull down my basketball shorts. Anyhow, the trigger isn't near as bad now as it once was... it's about like a glock trigger now.

EDIT: in reading up... yeah, it's an LCP custom. I'd buy it again given the option. I did have to make a little slit in my regular LCP holster so the rear sights didn't hang up. Of course I bought mine the day they came out. Maybe they have a new holster available, but mine works good as is. I don't have the mag kit as I couldn't find one in stock anywhere.
