Im torn. I like the look and feel of fiberglass stocks but I like the drop-in ability amd ergonomics of chassis systems. Gun will be primarily a bench gun and prone gun. My main concern with fiberglass is cost and time. An adjustable McMillan or Manners is $800+ then you have to buy bottom metal and have it inletted and bedded. My main concerns with chassis would be accuracy and weight. Not sure how accurate a drop-in system can really be but maybe it can?

Anyone with both that can speak about them? Or is there any reason one is way better than another?

Manners has a dbm chasis that you can order (installed) on their stocks.

Accuracy is equal in both types of stocks.

Ergonomics are personal preference. I own three Manners and no chassis, but I am no chassis hater.

I like fiberglass. Not sure what you will gain with a manners or McMillan that a B&C won't do, especially since its a bench, prone gun. The weight savings isn't a big deal.

You might get lucky like I did, and find a stock that already has a DBM and mag for less than the retail of the stock.

I never really considered chassis systems because they look too tacticool to me. But researching KRG really has peaked my interest.

I currently have a B&C stock on my Sako and have run a McMillan A5 in the past. The McMillan is truly superior. If I go fiberglass it will most likely be an A5 in GAP camo.

McMillan A-5 and a Manners T-4 are the same stock in quality and features. Which ever you can find in stock, buy that one.

Since Im not in a rush, would it be beneficial for me to just order one so they inlet it for the bottom metal and I can get exact color, flush cups I want? Wonder what their wait times are.

I think manners is 20 ish weeks roughly currently and McMillan is 12-16 from what I last saw

The wait is brutal but if you have to build slowly due to $ it's a good way to spread it out.


McMillan redid their in stock online store about a year ago and they have a lot in stock. Length of pull and some small accessories can be added

20 weeks is better than it used to be. Both companies used to take 7-8 months to order date to completion.

Flush cups on the left side of the stock for a RH shooter are handy. You can sling the rifle across your chest, or back. And can use the sling to help pull the rifle into your shoulder, same as a Viking Tactics sling on an AR. Don't forget a swivel stud for the bipod, though.

Either one works...whichever one you prefer is the one you need to buy.

If you have the time and don't mind waiting, order what you want.

Sounds like you guys are in favor of fiberglass then? I am thinking thats the route for me. Plus, the wait time doesnt bother me bc it'll give me time to get other small pieces done (bolt knob install, scope, rings, cerakote, bipod)

I'll be different here. I run a McRees Precision Chassis on my semi-custom 300WM and love it. Chassis are really nice if you want a folding stock to cut down on length, or have plans to add NV/light/laser or maybe a weapon mounted LRF. They are very modular. The adjustable length of pull and cheek riser is another really nice feature I like. Also, solid aluminum is about as durable as it gets.

No offense bud, but I just looked at the McRees chassis and that is one ugly mofo. Immediately reminded me of the el cheapo way to add a pistol grip & stock to a Saiga instead of just converting them the right way. But I'll give them this....they are extremely modular and have ALOT of options. Not for me though.

Plus, because of the nature of work I do I tend to judge a company by their website (maybe wrong of me) and how much time/money/design they put into it. Professional companies have professional websites. Mcrees website looks like it was developed in the 90s by a high-school kid. And they're operating off a .NET domain. I cringed when I hit their site.

Tell me more about the Manners Mini Chassis. Is it just their version of bottom metal?? It's a $360 option
