I haven't dealt with the "snake" guns at all but currently have a trade option to pick one up. It is the 8" nickel version, original grips but DOES NOT have the box or any paperwork. Just wondering what an approximate value would be. Thanks in advance for any advice and let me know if there are any other questions.

Probably around 1600+/- depending on condition. Being that they aren't produced anymore the value will only go up.
I'm not sure how much not having the box and paperwork will effect it

It is in excellent condition and based on the serial number, it was made in 1980.

Asking price for these pistols are generally around $2400 w/ box and paperwork. I am not sure what they are actually selling for these days. They have gone up a lot in the last year.
I saw folks on gunbroker selling the boxes for 185-300 dollars.

yep, $3,000+ for the 8" if its mint. check gunbroker, etc for estimates. The "Snake Gun" market is being ruined by a few with BIG cash RE: the guy, Louie on Gunfather TV show Outdoor Channel or Sportsman's channel. He went to Wanamacher Gun Show in Tulsa, bought all he could carry out. takes them back to his gun shop in Montana, cleans em up, puts them in a NEW Colt box with NEW paper work, and makes $1,000 on each one. I want one VERY bad too. I saw one at the Lewisville Gun Show 4" blue, $3100, I offered $2500, no sale, he would go $2800, I passed... It's a crazy market that a few are driving up. If you can get one for $1600 JUMP ON IT !!!!!!

Not sure about the Baby but I did see a 6" King Cobra on G.B. a while ago for almost $3K !!!
I read on Guns America or somewhere this week, Colt may bring back the Snake Guns. They did say they wouldn't be like the "old ones" but would be fitted and finished just like them. The inside mechanisms would be different ??? but the actions and the finishes would be first class. Didn't touch the price issue though....

Sounds like I was off by a good bit. Depending on what your giving up I say hop on it, like I said the value is only going up. My number was based off of what my dad said from when he bought one in 2011. It was a late 80s model. He said he paid around 1400 for one with box and paperwork. I'm sure he will be glad to hear what others have said.

Got a few more in the collection, only missing 2 to have a complete set. But at the price of $5-6k each I don't think I'll be completing the collection
