I am looking at starting to feed cottonseed and have a couple of questions.
Will cattle eat it?
Will a cattle/ hog panel made in a circle work for feeding?

Cattle will eat it. In our experience, putting it in a hog panel ring can lead to it getting too much moisture and rotting. I'd put it in taller, narrower wire basket, held in place by a t-post. Hog panel will work if they are hammering it though.

Also, not only will cattle eat it, but they will jump in your feed pen to get to it.

I was feeding cattle it long before deer.... I use to mix it with peanut skins. Good stuff. Pen Fences get killed though... If you have long earred hippy cows...you are going to hate them even worse

Doubt they would eat enough to effect them from a feeder but.

Also not sure how it effects whitetails and mule deer, have seen some big whitetail bucks in Cotton Fields

I can tell you it has done exactly the opposite of stunting antler growth on multiple ranches...none of which I am at liberty to post pictures of. Also, you can have the cottonseed tested prior to feeding.

Where do you get cottonseed from? A feed store?

Labor intensive and costly if you cannot contract it. Not fun to shovel in the 110 deg summer heat if you do not have a front end loader. Lacks key minerals/trace minerals and vitamins. Most that feed it are set up to feed it and buy it on contract(cheapest route). They also feed protein pellets to get minerals into the deer. Most that feed it do not feed it year round due to possible sterility issues. Research gossypol. It is somewhat weather resistant and coons/javis/hogs shy away from it. But have heard of some guys saying they have had hogs eat it.

I have heard of hogs eating it and it causes so much expansion inside the hog that they die cause something ruptures.
Not sure how truthful this is but hey, I didn't read it on the internet. Then again, can't trust what people say more than you can trust the internet now days. Take it for what it's worth
