I am selling every decoy I own that is not G and H, hopefully tonight. With that being said I am replacing them with the G and H brand. When that happens I will be rigging the new ones. I am going to rig them with the barrel/ snap swivel this time. I also want to switch from the bank sinker mold I use to a mushroom or pyramid sinker. So with that I am asking if anyone has a mold I/we can use. In exchange I have all the lead I/we need? So does anyone have a mold I can borrow or we can get together and knock it out in a couple hours.

I am switching to mushroom or pyramid so I can get a little bit more bite. The 20 miles per hour wind dragged a couple decoys across a sand bar. They weren't able to bite the hard pack sand. That and I don't want to have to drown three butt clowns at the UTHFDHPOC next year bolt

I cant help you with the molds, but have a question for you about G&H. What is it that you like about them? Is it strictly a durability thing? I've seriously considered switching to them, but cant get over how unrealistic they look compared to similarly priced competitors.

There are several reasons for the change over.

Murican made
Durable as a tractor tire
Paint is durable as well
Swivel heads
Some are realistic, others no so much. I don't like their teal. So far as widgeon, redheads, blue bills, pintails and mallards I tink they are absolutely realistic. Pintails and widgeon especially.

Walk another thing to add to the list is that there lighter then some of the other brands as well! In a airboat situation these are ideal! More decoys less weight

Yessir. Captain Tom came by the get together the other day and took out some hunters. He has 20 year old G and H decoys that have been to the devil and back. They still have color and still killing birds. Try that with the Chinese hog crap they sell these days.

It is not very often but when you hunt with butt clowns they shoot a decoy bang If that happens when you have no swivel then you have to cut the string, this replace it. Plus I think the weed eater string I use slides much better through the metal eye on the barrel swivelbthan through the plastic hole on the keel. I will probably go all out and plastic dip the weights on these decoys.

I don't have a choice to buy new now. All but a dozen mallard and pintails sold last night. Each of those two dozen fit inside my shell decoys in slotted bags for the North country. I kept them because they fit so well, allowing one bag to cover 2 dozen, land and water.

Making a call to G and H this morning. This is going to hurt even with the proceeds collected from the sale of the old decoys. Even at that price I still believe it is the right thing to do.

I am outfitted decoy wise for inland ducks. For the coast I have a 13 redheads, 18 pintails and 11 widgeon. Huh? I wonder where my 12th widgeon could be?????

I am thinking about ordering 3 dozen redheads today. What say you guys? What else for a coastal spread? Mind you, this is big step down from what I would normally put out. I am used to minimum 10 dozen on big water. So 3 more Drake only dozens should cover me I think. MAybe 2 redheaded drake only and a pack of blue bills. What say the forum?

You need to change your spread up for me anyway, I can't shoot those passing birds on the outside of your spread. You can't put 10 dozen birds out with 3 feet between them and have ducks land or fly the outside of the spread and have your spread be in range laugh

Swivel is best move you can make. 90% of my GHG deekes are trash and will hit the dumpster this year. They sure looked nice the year I got them. Have been slowly replacing everything with G&H as well. I caught the redheads swivel standard on the cheap 2 years ago.

Some of their decoys may not look like the latest greatest, most beautifully carved decoys from what ever Asain country, but they do fool birds.

I get accused of being hard on my gear. All I know is that Avery, will never see another dime from me. Their blind bags wont even last a year.

Many of my deeks sound like rattle trap fishing lures. Clowns, including myself have been known to run a pellet into them. On a cold day, which we really have not had this year, the chinese decoys will loose chunks. The G&H are like a timex.....take a licking and keep on ticking.

Very few on this or any other board agree with you and I about G and H. After X number of seasons, nobody will be able to convince me the Chinese donkey doo doo decoys can hold a candle to the G and H decoys. So far as the Avrery bags realmad realmad realmad I picked up a bag by the handles once and the bag never moved. They crumbled to powder. I was so amazed at how easily they powered, I youtubed the video and put it on here.

Maybe I got lucky. My GHG take a major whooping and they have held up pretty well. The Pro-Grade dekes hold up a lot better than the cheaper GHG dekes though.

I don't reckon that a good many here or elsewhere will agree with me on a good many things:

Avery is Junk. The Pro Grade is just better looking Junk. You can put lipstick on a pig, but its still a pig underneath. Durability? Hahaha.

Yeti coolers are overpriced fad. They do not hold ice any better than any other brand. They are more durable than most. My brute is the same way, but actually retains ice a tad better.

Hevimetal, black cloud and blind side are all gimmick loads. Anybody who has reloaded lead for any length of time will tell you that they paid extra for high antimony shot so the shot doesnt deform on setback. Round pellets retain energy and velocity better. I use steel handloads or federal blue box and do quite well.

Avery pro grades will never leak, however the paint is chipped off before you can take them out of the bubble wrap. The gadwalls are the only ones with zero paint chips after two seasons. The rest look like crap. This summer I'll be stocking up on a different brand.

I buy decoys like I buy my beer.... Whatever is on sale and a couple boxes at a time! I have every brand known except for Dakota. Doubt they are ever on sale! Even picked up 60 good looking tanglefree on black Friday for 24 bucks a dozen.
