Every component in that scope is made in America. I have been holding off from posting about this.

Scope sounds great, price point doesn't tickle my fancy though. Is the reticle as busy in the field or range as it looks in that pic? I've never used one with the EBR7 but it makes since

Does this mean Vortex is moving into manufacturing its own products? If not, who's building it?

Like the weight a lot better than the Razor line. Wonder if the eyebox is any bigger for this one.

It's still a RAZOR HD just more geared towards hunting/tactical crowd. At 20oz lighter than the Razor HD GenII, the Razor HD G2's only downfall is its a damn brick.

That's awesome. I called about a month ago to see if I could get 10 mil turrets versus the 5 for my PST. Guy told me I'd have to go to the Razor to get those turrets and there wasn't anything he could do for me. I thanked him and told him that not everyone wants a 3 lb scope to hang off their rifle.
I was seriously considering a jump to March because of the weight. This one has me curious now.

Is it pst turrets or razor gen 2 turrets? Short gen 2 per the Vortex rep on SH. Another thing to consider about price is that the gen2 has a msrp of $3399 but a street price in the $2400 so if this scope has a msrp of $2500 then the real world price will likely be a bit lower.

Pics of it open on fb Chad. Look on the Spartan precision rifles page. A few months back he posted a pic of a vortex rep using one of his rifles and this scope. It was early December or earlier.

So would you take a 6-24 Amg or 4.5-30 razor 2?
That will be interesting. I would have rather seen something materially different than a current offering i.e. A 1-8 or 2-12 type scope

6-24X, been done for years.
Why not a lower low end? For what they cost, multiplying more can be done. Burris is doing it.

Same price and I am taking the razor. I know it's heavier but I get 34mm tube which theoretically should have more light transmission

Hi Guys, Dave at Vortex here.
The Razor HD AMG is a 30mm tube not 1 inch The Razor HD LH is 1" tube because they were designed for ultra light weight hunting scopes.
Also, main-tube size has absolutely nothing to do with light transmission whatsoever. If all else is equal between two scopes except for tube size, the larger tube size will give the engineer more room to design for one of three things:
1. More elevation and windage travel 2. larger FOV 3. A combination of #1 and #2.
That's it. Light transmission and brightness are a function of many other things and is a very long conversation. In short, there is a lot of misleading information and just pure marketing out there in regards to light transmission but it is something totally unrelated to main-tube size.
In regards to the Razor HD AMG we came up with some sophisticated engineering to reduce the size of the internal mechanics and gain more space that way, rather than increasing tube size. The result is a 30mm tube scope that gains the advantage of being lighter weight while providing a generous FOV and a lot more travel than most other 30mm tube scopes in this magnification range.
Optically, the Razor HD AMG is something in its own class and the best optical quality we have produced to date. I am shooter myself and have used one for a long time in prototype now and can't wait to get my own...although, we are going to be getting them out to customers first, so I will actually have to wait a while!
