As is the case with any multi-tool, it ain't great at any one job.
Buy a good range finder and as great a scope as you can afford.

I had a 4-16 and it was an awesome scope. very good glass, easy to use and program your ammo into, was just way too much scope for me and the shooting I do. I would recommend it if you shoot over 200 yds often.

I have one mounted on my 7mag and love it. My main reason was that my wife often hunts with it and isn't the best at letting me know where the deer was when she took the shot. With this, she ranges the animal and knows the yardage. In turn it also tells her where to aim depending on the distance which is also nice for her. After she takes the shot, We can walk and turn around and range the stand until the distance that she used when the shot was taken and locate the beginning of the blood trail a LOT easier than her guessing where it was. I've used it a lot as well and love it. I would recommend it for sure. Of of the negatives I can say with it is a longer shot and the magnification of it. Mine is a 4-12x42 so for "longer" shots, the magnification isn't as good as some others out there. I've used it out to 600 yrds on coyotes and hogs pretty easily and longest on a deer was a little over 400 yrds. The crosshairs are not as fine as others out there so that is something to consider.
It all really depends on what the rifle will be used to as if is a good fit for you. For me and the rifle it is on, it works great and has never let me down.
