I know this questions has been asked a lot lately, but is the snow goose hunting any good in early March around Houston? Looking do something for my birthday and have always wanted to shoot some snow geese.
Any guide recommendations?
Is the extended mag tube a must?

Early march is going to be too late for snow geese around Houston. There might be a few small groups left around by then but nothing big enough to hunt probably. First couple weeks in February would probably be your best bet in that area.
I'm with GK because I like salty old dudes.

Exactly what John said. March is a waste of time, early February as soon as conservation season opens is your best bet.

Check around and see who has geese. Land varies year to year with crops being laid out, plowed, or in rice production.
Call these guys
Pintail Hunting Club Red Bluff Prairie (the link is in my signature) Third Coast Outfitters
I know the owners of the first two places I mentioned personally. They will shoot you straight if they have birds or not.

Early March is when I head to South Dakota every year for snows. Spend 10-14 days there and pound the heck out of them. So I agree if I'm killing in SD in March there will not be many birds down here. However last year was different due to a couple atoms having the birds split up. Birds in Canada to Arkansas at the same time
