Will be taking a 3 day work trip down to Houston for work tomorrow. Recommend me some places to stop and eat at and places to visit/sight see between here and there, or just around Houston and surrounding areas.

Thanks

This topic has been discussed prior to this. For Ok food along 45, I like:

Bubba's in Ennis - decent steak, good BBQ, buffet or order off the menu.
Woody's at Centerville. Basically good food of several types. Great stuffed potato.
Mexican place in Madisonville. It's on the town square. Pretty good food.
The really good food starts at The Woodlands, with several top of the line steak places; PF Chang's; Cheesecake Factory; good BBQ. Basically, whatever you want is in The Woodlands.
In Houston, the options are unlimited, with the top of the line Mexican food at Pico's in Bellaire, super steakhouses, world class sushi, world class Italian, and on and on.

Tell me what you really like and I'm sure I can make a recommendation. I ate on expense account all over Houston and The Woodlands for 30+ years.

I like non-chain local fair. Unique places. Mexican, seafood, cultural foods (greek, indian, etc) good ole home cooking.

Sam's in Fairfield has a great buffet. Woody's in Centerville has great jerky and BBQ. Great restrooms.

The Mexican food diner owned by Sam in Fairfield is excellent too. It's about 1.5 miles off of I-45.

Have to check out Leona Steakhouse (in Leona of course) off 45 just south of Centerville... 977 @ hwy 75 I think. If you're passing through Thursday, Friday, or Saturday around supper time it will be worth the wait. If you're passing through the area around lunch time swing by Pecan Grove. Same owners but for lunch. Don't forget to try the pie!!!!

never explain, your friends won't need it and your enemies won't believe it.

I second Sam's in Fairfield. Have some land in Teauge and drive to Sam's to eat. Wont blow your socks off, but its solid food.

If you hit Sam's on Sunday afternoon, they usually open up the pie case to the buffet. FREE PIE!

Stopped off at Woody's in Centerville yesterday to get a couple of BBQ beef stuffed potatoes. Terrific.

And, a couple of Friday's back, we were on the way back from Dallas and I remembered that Bubba's in Ennis had Prime Rib on Fridays. Some of the folks on the forum don't care for Bubba's, but the wife and I do. The Prime Rib was great.

We've been to Bubba's once and enough. But we would go back for Prime Rib. Problem is, we turn towards home at 287, before Bubba's.
