Hey fella, I have a piece if damasteel I'm working on and this is my first Damascus blade. I've read hours of Internet posts on what etchant to use and different methods. I've seen a lot of really nice Damascus blades on here, and thought I would pick your brains before I buy any solution, and get after it. Feel free to PM me if you would like. Thanks guys

It depends on the colors or shades you want on the two different steels here is a chart of 6 different acid combinations to use depending on the end look you want. Plus you can always try your own solutions.

Thanks randallss, I have seen this chart during my many Google searches. I was looking for some local makers input, and maybe some of the do's and donts from their many expierences. Seems like the knife thread is more of a gloating page rather than a informative place to get information, or ask questions.

I have never made a knife from Damasteel, but its been on the back burner for a while, I will ask the guys at Jantz the next time I'm in, see what they have to say about it. If they have any good advice I will post it.

so damasteel is stainless Damascus that's cool . you would not have to worry about corrosion so much. And reading the pdf the more you work it the harder it gets is that correct? I want a Blade!!

What are the plus and minus of damasteel vs carbon steel
