My dad shot a deer and took it to his processor. While there, the processor told my dad about a friend of his who had shot a hog under a feeder off his back porch a couple weeks back. he said the hog dropped in its tracks. apparently the man ( a bit older), went to sleep, woke up the next day, had his coffee and saw the hog laying there under the feeder where he had shot it. After his morning coffee, he got on his 4 wheeler and drove over to the hog. when he walked up to grab the hog, the hog jumped and knocked him to the ground. Said the hog proceeded to get on top of him trying to bite and kill the man. Said the man wrestled the hog with every oz of strength he had getting ripped up fighting that hog until the hog passed out and died again from what i assume was the wound opening back up and causing the boar to finally bleed out. I dont recall the total amount of stitches the guy had to get but it was a lot.. on his hands, face, and legs. the guy said it was he knew laying there wrestling that hog that it was either him or the hog.

Y'all have fun, but be careful out there.

When spotlighting pigs out of a milo field, we would always shoot as many as possible chasing them through the field in the truck and shooting as we went. That meant that there would be pigs scattered all over the field so we would just come back the next day to drag them off. Found a big boar a long ways from where we had shot him, that happened sometimes I'd seen that before. What I hadn't seen before was a hog come back to life while I was hooking the chain to his back leg. We'd spined him and he was not able to use his rear legs but was very much alive and could move surprisingly well on just his front legs. He never got real close to getting me, but you couldn't tell that from the way I was jumping into the bed of the truck and climbing through the back sliding glass for a gun.

I don't think this is tall tale

I shot a hog last year that rolled over with legs kicking in the air
only to be gone after I went to get the ATV

A friend caught a boar in Leuders, TX with dogs, put several rounds of 9mm
in his head, went to get truck, hog was gone by the time he got back

Heck, I shot one the other afternoon, before I got into the stand. Thought I'd just get into the stand and hope the rest of the pigs would come back. I did that, leaned down for the binocs to look at the pig, but when I raised up, the pig was gone. Dang it.
